Teaching Supply FAQs

GB Recruitment act on behalf of many schools and nurseries in the local area. This can be for either long or short-term placements. Once bookings are received, we then communicate with the relevant staff to assess their availability for the position and inform them of any details relating to that cover. In turn we ask that you update us with your availability in order that we can continue to seek assignments for you.

Although we are a busy agency, we can not guarantee the amount of work we can find for any individual.

GB Recruitment have our own payroll department, which is operated on a weekly basis, so receiving your pay is hassle-free. Respecting you as a qualified professional we offer you a competitive rate from day one. All pay is subject to any statutory deductions as we are directed to make by the Central Government.

No, it is up to you how many days a week you wish to work. Sometimes people require long-term, full-time assignments whereas other people require flexibility to fit in with their lifestyle.

It will depend on whether your DBS is registered with the Update Service. When an employer processes a DBS you will have the option to join this scheme to make your certificate portable between employers. However, if you decline the scheme, only the employer that processed your DBS can use that particular certificate.

Yes. Prior to placing you into any post, we will obtain a minimum of two employment references for you. This will ensure that we comply with the safer recruitment guidelines.

School FAQs

Our consultants are based in the office between 08.00am – 16.30pm. However, after this time they can still be contacted out of normal office hours by calling 01782 624444.

Absolutely, once a candidate is placed into a booking, a profile is emailed to the school including all the relevant information. We also ask all of our employees to present the DBS certificate and photographic ID on arrival at your school.

We encourage all our staff to join the Update Service with their current DBS certificate. Following this we complete update checks in line with our safeguarding policy. For those people who miss the timeframe to join the Update Service, a new DBS will be completed on its 12-month anniversary and the staff member will be asked to join the scheme at this point.

Yes, all candidates go through a telephone screening process followed by a face-to-face interview, where the consultant will ascertain the relevant information to comply with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidelines.

GB Recruitment recognise the importance of continuity for your children and although we cannot guarantee the same staff for each booking, we will do our utmost to keep continuity wherever possible.

For over a decade, our Governing Body, the Recruitment and Employment Confederation managed the DfE Quality Mark for Recruitment Agencies working in Education. Following its closure, the REC launched the REC Audited Education, a new robust set of standards for recruitment in education which builds on the legacy of the Quality Mark.  

REC Audited Education will enable schools and education providers to be confident that they are using an accredited supplier, who puts standards at the centre of their business.  We are audited by external auditors and welcome Head Teachers, Governors and Business Managers to view our processes.

Our contractual agreement enables a school to employ a member of staff that has been introduced by GB Recruitment. We offer a temp to perm option as well as a permanent opportunity. We offer competitive rates for both options and negotiate with the school as we understand the financial restraints that schools currently face.
