GB Recruitment is currently recruiting on behalf of a welcoming primary school in the Newcastle-under-Lyme area for a dedicated and compassionate Year 5 Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil.
This is an excellent opportunity for a caring and committed individual who is passionate about helping children reach their full potential. The position will begin with morning hours 08.30-12.00, with the opportunity to develop into a full-time role for the right candidate.
The Role
As a Year 5 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with a pupil on a one-to-one basis. You will play a key role in promoting engagement, confidence and positive learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 5 pupil
- Assist the pupil in accessing the curriculum and participating in classroom activities
- Implement strategies to support behavioural and emotional development
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
- Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to ensure the best outcomes
- Encourage independence, confidence and social development
About the Pupil
The successful candidate will be supporting a pupil with behavioural needs who is on the autistic spectrum. We are looking for someone who can provide consistent, patient and nurturing support while adapting to the individual’s needs.
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking someone who:
- Has experience working as a Teaching Assistant
- Has an education-based Level 3 qualification
- Has experience supporting pupils with SEND
- Demonstrates patience, empathy and understanding
- Can remain calm and positive in challenging situations
- Builds strong relationships with children, staff and families
- Is reliable, committed and passionate about supporting young people
