Safeguarding Checklist

The recruitment of teaching staff requires specialist knowledge and expertise. It is our priority to ensure that the necessary checks on all temporary workers are carried out before any applicant is accepted on to our register.

We are one of the first teacher supply agencies to be awarded the new REC Audited Education Status which was initiated in 2014. Prior to this we held the prestigious DfE Quality Mark since 2002.  GB Recruitment is a member of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), and we ensure that all temporary workers meet the requirements of their stringent code of practice.

We are also a registered body for the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) allowing us to process checks of education staff directly ourselves. We adhere to the regulations and guidance issued by the DfE and Home Office which is pertinent to the screening and supply of education staff.

Right to Work / Identity Check:  Personal identification of each applicant is thoroughly checked in line with Government Guidelines. Only official documents will satisfy our requirements.

Reference Checks:  Full and detailed references are taken up on every applicant in line with “Keeping Children Safe in Education” Guidance issued by the DFE.

Qualification Check:  Academic qualifications are verified against guidance issued by the DfE and other training agencies. Overseas applicants are required to have their qualifications verified by NARIC.

Disclosure and Barring Service:  Enhanced DBS Checks are undertaken on all education staff prior to commencing work with GB Recruitment. Staff are advised to join the Update Service in order that GB Recruitment can undertake re-checks in line with our safeguarding policy.

Teaching Regulation Agency: All Teachers are checked against this listing upon registration and follow-up checks are undertaken in line with our safeguarding guidelines.

Right to Work in the UK:  This will be established during the interview process by checking all relevant documentation.

Barring by Association:  All staff will complete the relevant documentation during the registration process.

Professional Interview:  All teaching staff experience an in-depth interview with one of our consultants, ascertaining any inconsistencies and suitability for work.

Child Protection Training: GB Recruitment ensure that all our staff complete CP1 training every three years and are regularly forwarded updates in-between. We also offer PREVENT and provide additional training information that, we feel, will benefit staff as part of our CPD programme.

Through the REC Code of Practice GB Recruitment endeavors to achieve the highest quality service at all times.
